Mycology 101 Email Design

Selecting imagery through a database of tens of thousands of photos was key for me bringing fresh ideas to my client's weekly emails. Here I pulled up some vintage film photos mixed with some more modern ones and kept the design clean and focused.

One Community Email

Image selection was key in setting the tone for this design, as it was featured around the holiday season. I also included my signature Paul quote speech bubble and icon design.

Materials Matter Email Design

I selected imagery that fit our serious and scientific-yet open and positive-tone, and made sure to highlight the >10x commitment as directed by our CEO Paul Stamets. I couldn't find any great stock or existing company photos of our cardboard packaging and didn't have the DSLR camera with me, so took the final shot with my iPhone of some packages I had on hand and it worked great!

Product Types Email

I like to lead my emails off with an eyecatching image and phrase. For example I shot these ones myself in our photo studio and at a local garden. The user's task of reading the prepared text is aided by the imagery and subheadings making them more likely to read on and learn about my client's products.

Delivery Methods Email

I created a chart to unburden the user from reading through text to help them make the decisions needed to choose a product and based on their tastes and lifestyle, and ultimately encourage them to make a purchase.

MycoShield Email

I photographed this hero image to highlight this unique supplement delivery method. I also designed the Paul Stamets logo widely represented in the Fungi Perfecti branding and all current packaging. It was important for my client that I include the mycelium pattern so I created this subtle background for the header and footer which help break up the copy, and again include icons to guider the user's eye and allow easy digestibility of the email.

I shot and edited the header photography and created a custom icon set that I was able to repurpose in many emails about this topic.

Elderberry Infusion Email

I produced all the photography on this email, and designed it for a calm and refreshing feel. I wanted this design to resemble a lifestyle magazine layout with plenty of whitespace while adhering to the client's general branding guidelines.
